Default Sway bar install questions

Long story short I changed out my stock base sway bars for Z51 sway bars, also had new tires installed with a four wheel alignment and now the car pulls right.

Im convinced I got some bad tires and it’s radial pull causing this. I do want to rule out the sway bars being the culprit tho.

When installing the sway bars should there be no load on the suspension at all when torquing everything down or could this cause some sort of preload issue? Also is there anything else to check as far as the sway bars? It’s an easy install and I don’t imagine this is causing the car to pull but I figured I would at least ask.

I don’t think the sway bars or end links are the issue here. Just my two cents.

I’ve had my sway bars in and out several times and never experienced that issue.

Where the tires road force balanced?

Four corner alignment done to Pfadt specs?

I don’t see how the sway bar could cause a pull. If you feel it’s a radial pull cross the two front wheels to see if there’s a change.

I don’t imagine it has anything to do with the sway bars or end links. I had the front and rear aligned to the factory specs the vin calls for…

Yep that’s exactly what I was thinking, if I cross them and it changes I guess I’m just SOL as I don’t think I’ll be able to return them. Bought them from Tire Rack back in April of 22’

Factory alignment specs will have it pulling to right or left. You’ll notice inside of front tires wearing out before center and outside of tire.

I couldn’t understand why the inside of my front tires were bald and the outside still had plenty of tread……factory specs….

Went with Pfadt specs and tires are wearing fine and even, no pulling whatsoever.

So how do I get the Pfadt specs and what would I do just take a print out of them to the alignment shop?

I am not sure a dealer will do this for you. I went to an alignment shop and gave them the street specs and they set everything to them.

They might. I know some places will only do it according to the VIN for liability purposes but the place I go might do it. So that caster, camber and toe is all I need to give them?
My car is strictly street with no track time so I don’t need anything too aggressive, just go straight lol

That what I went with. Street specs only. I just drive aggressively also, no track stuff. My tires wear much much much better with these specs now. Here’s another spec sheet I found shows max, min.

I did the same upgrade you did, and got a 4 wheel alignment right after, I also raised my 05’ on its stock bolts.

mine doesn’t pull either which way, but after the guy did mine, the steering wheel is a little lopsided when the car is pointed straight.

as some others have pointed out, I don’t believe sway bars could affect steering in this way, just make sure your end links are greased up, and maybe swap tires on each side if they’re not directional.

My steering wheel was slightly off centered as well, which drives me crazy…. But it def pulls to the right even on a flat road, especially at higher speeds. In fact I had two different alignments (different shops) with the same result

wow that’s a little concerning, I thought my steering wheel problem was a one off, hope this isn’t a wide spread thing.

Hopefully, any reputable alignment shop will fix their work for free. The one I went to is about and hour away and I’ll have to make that drive again.

Ahh it’s been too long to go back and haggle with them, been about a year or so…
I have a new set of wheels in the garage that need to go on so I’ll be getting the alignment when I have the wheels put on. My steering wheel is off even more now cause I just got the car back from having a cam installed and it made it worse.

I daily drive and went street specs. After 20K miles my tires wore even as can be with that set up and tracked straight with no pull to either side.

When I purchased the car the insides were worn more than the outsides so I’m glad I made the switch to the alignment specs mentioned above.
