Hello,
I have a 06 ls2 A6 and had an weird burning electrical smell when I was driving home one night, and once I parked it, it wouldn't start.. Started taking parts off and noticed that the alternator had tons of small burns on it and waited a few weeks to replace it. When the part came in and had it installed I tried to jump the car, but only gives one click of the starter then stops. Now when giving it some power through the jumper I get the codes p0122 (Throttle Pos Sensor 1 Circuit Low Voltage), p0223 (Throttle Pos Sensor), p0120 (Throttle Pos Sensor 1 Circuit), p0220 (Throttle Pos Sensor), p0123 (Throttle Pos Sensor Circuit High Voltage). Confused as to why I'm getting these codes and why the starter wont go more than 1 click, doesn't have the constant clicking and grinding like a bad starter. Could the TB wiring be damaged from jump starting? or has my ecm fried? HELP!!!!!!
I had mine idling in the driveway while I was getting some stuff together and looked out and had smoke billowing from under the hood. Luckily I was able to shut it down immediately. Sounds to me that when your alternator fried it may have trashed your battery and your just not getting the voltage through your jumper cables. Pull your battery and see if it will take a charge out of the car and then have it load tested at your nears auto parts store. Hopefully that will be your easiest solution.
I would suggest you have the battery fully charged then try to start the car. when the battery voltage is low, the car will throw all kinds of weird codes.
I would take battery to a shop and have them do a acid test with a Hydrometer. Could be that the battery has a dead cell, will take a charge but will not start the car. I had this happen on a brand new battery for my boat.
Given the fact all the codes are centered around the throttle position sensor that would be my starting point. Work your way back from there. Verify no wiring was fried, if you have a scan tool put the car into run mode and see if you have throttle communication. It sounds like you have multiple issues. The alternator may have started the issue but the fact you smelled burning electrical it leads me to believe something back fed and burnt up.
Unless it fried the starter wiring or something in the ECU, If the battery has 12 volts you can look past that for now (not saying its not a possible issue but its not the only one). Again, the electrical smell is good reason to believe something backfed and burnt up. Too many people throw parts at things in hopes of fixing them without addressing the cause of the issue. You need to take time to diagnose what happened in order to fix it correctly or you'll likely compound your issues.
I believe that the burning smell came from the alternator and when i pulled it off it seemed to have burned coils. I believe my issues came from unplugging and removing the throttle body to inspect the pulleys and other components. when i initially tried to jump the car with the tb unplugged and i don't know if that had an adverse effect on the tb wiring or the cars battery is too dead to start or clear the codes, but when I plugged in the tb and cleared the codes from my reader the car did the same thing with a check engine light and no codes on my reader.

Reason: more information
First of all, thanks everyone for your suggestions and advice. Turns out when the alternator fried it destroyed my almost new battery. Got a new alternator and new battery and it is running fine!!!
