And without high flow cats, no way in hell your going to pass a sniffer test, no mater how lean the car is tuned.
Its the reason that the sniffer test is done on a rolling system, since may run very clean when throttled up, or even held steady, but as soon as the test tells him to slow down, the motor/exhaust system is going to go rich for a second as he comes off the throttle, and that is when you will blow the sniffer test since will not be cats to burn that excessive fuel.

Hi all, just wanted to followup on the thread I started. Had it inspected and there are indeed no CATS...and it failed inspection, one of only a few things. Dealer has agreed to pay for new CATS to be installed which I have already ordered. I have some other issues which were never mentioned which I will be posting about in other threads if I cant get them done easily. Honestly, I am so pissed at the dealer for trying to pass this off as "good to go" and no issues. Sadly, if this wasnt a color combo and others things I wanted I would have never bought the car from the get go. I would have waited for a local sale. I took the stealerships word....shame on me is all I can say. You know when all you want is to be excited for a new purchase but there is a sinking feeling in your gut...thats what I have right now.....it sucks.

The way I see it is, If there is anything wrong still after the cat's get installed I would walk away from it. But you may be locked in now since you are installing cat's and altering the car and not the dealer. The dealer should be getting the car repaired and not you. Can the dealer contact the original owner to find out about the car. The dealer want's to keep you in the car, but you may need get the car retuned to pass because it may have been tuned for no cat's. So you need to get the dealer to give you a blank check not only for cat's, but for unseen item's. I would take it to a corvette shop, I suspect it has a warranty? You have to be happy with the car, but all I say is you need to make sure you get the dealer to take care of the car. Remember you can always get another one.
