Cam timing questions

Default Cam timing questions

Hey guys im having a bit of a hard time figuring out how to lower my dynamic compression ratio. I have a tsp stage 4 ls7 cam specs- 248/260 .657/.655 111lsa 108icl. I called up texas speed and they said the ivc point is at 52 degrees at .050" plus 15 degrees, so plugging it all into a dcr calculator im getting a 9:1 dcr which is way too high for the pump 93 im having to run, even with a .096 compressed thickness head gasket. I was thinking of ways to lower it and I thought about retarding the cam timing about 3 degrees with my adjustable timing set to lower it to a 8.7 dcr. Is that how cam timing works? Should i be worried about retarding it the 3 degrees? I could get an even thicker head gasket but it drops my static compression below 11:1 which I dont want to do. What should I do?
