Power Folding Top Troubleshoot

Power Folding Top Troubleshoot
Recently purchased a 2008 base, with power folding top. I can open and close it manually but the power button does nothing. Is there a common issue I should be looking for? Thanks in advance for the help. (:

Well, open manually. You mean by releasing pressure at the pump?
Here are the easy items: Index your windows, check fluid level in pump, check truck to cabin partition clip with sensor.
The rest, well, may not be described as easy or common.
If none of the above work, my first step would be to check power at/ operation of the dashboard switch.

I can't believe it was that easy! The guy I bought it from owned the car for 5 years and said it was a manual top. It has the power top button so I knew that wasn't true. Indexed the window, tightened the valve on the top motor and it works perfectly. I didn't have a clue where to start and thanks to your help, it was a simple solution. (:
