Replace Harmonic Balancer & AC Compressor Same Time?
I have to replace my AC compressor because the clutch and pulley make a gritty noise when spinning them. The compressor works fine, but when I turn it by hand, it sounds like a bearing has grit in it or something.I am assuming it is the cluth/pulley and believe it is just best to replace the whole compressor. I found videos on this, dropping the subframe, etc.
I have the AC belt off, because with it on, there is like a squeaking belt noise, almost a chirping sound. Harmonic balancer maybe? The harmonic balancer has a slight wobble to it, see videos below.
Anyhow, if indeed I need to replace both of these ultimately, would it be beneficial to do both at the same time? I would rather just do the AC compressor now, since it is getting hot, but wonder if with the AC belt on, it is causing the HB to pull in the other direction and cause the chirp.
Any ideas?
