I bought a 2007 with the magnetic ride control. It hadn’t been driven in a long time so the shocks are all leaking and need to be replaced. The shop quoted me over $2400. That’s insane. Does anyone have a recommendation for me on what shocks to buy to keep the great feel of the suspension without paying so much? I can’t afford the $2400+ right now so I have to figure out how to DIY this myself.
Some leaking is normal for these shocks. Do you trust the shop to know about these shocks and their issue of some leaking?
This^^. While it is possible that all 4 are leaking, more often it's just normal oil dampness. Unfortunately many shops, either through incompetence or dishonesty, try to sell expensive replacements.
I have a nice pair of "non-leaking" rear shocks that came off my 2008. I'm selling for $200 shipped.
Although the price is outrageously good, '08 shocks only work on '08-'13. The OP has a '07 and even though they look the same and will physically fit, they are slightly different internally..
Do you notice a difference in the suspension when you change the switch position? If so, I'd wipe the shocks down and leave it alone for a while so you can gauge how much they are leaking. Like mentioned before, some seepage is normal.
Also, fill out your profile. It helps people know where you are located. For instance, if you lived in the greater Houston area, I would gladly offer to help you out. I have some quickjacks where we can get the car completely off the ground, pull the tires and inspect/clean it up.
