Default Anyone know…engine and traction lights on?

The other day I was out and just cycled the traction control button through the three modes, everything worked fine. We stopped, when restarting the engine light and traction control light came on. The button for traction control then didn’t work and the car sound a little strange. We got home ok and I let the car sit over night checked the forum for possible causes…loose spark plug wire, low battery. I checked all wires are seated correctly and battery is at full charge. Started the car and still the lights came on….before taking it to the dealer which really doesn’t know corvettes…learned that the hard way with the AC drivers module….any recommendations? Thank you

I recommend getting a scan tool. You can own one for less money than the dealer will charge to run theirs once. You do need one that is GM-aware to see ABS and other proprietary codes. I have a clone standalone Tech 2 which can see everything, but they are a couple hundred dollars. For less money you can run a Tech 2 in emulation on your laptop if you're willing to fight with a bunch of flaky GM Windows abandonware. There are 3rd-party scan tools that can see GM ABS codes as well.

I have a Launch X431 that works with virtually any OBD2 car and shows codes in every module and offers bidirectional control of certain options like activating the abs pump for bleeding brakes, commanding windows to roll down or up, recalibration batteries on BMWs, etc. Cost about $900. doesn't do any ECU programming but does just about anything else including TPMS programming

You most likely have a misfire that causes the TC light to come on…even my Toyota 4 Runner does the same thing if you have a misfire…why take it to a dealership ??…they will only replace a bunch of parts because they don’t make money on diagnostics…find yourself a diagnostic shop in your area…they will diagnose the car down to the part that’s causing the misfire…you can take the car to any parts store and they can put a scan tool on it and possibly tell you what cylinder or cylinders are misfiring.
