c6 xmission questions
It appears my auto xmission in a 2005 1lt may be leaking. I have researched some and the UM states you cannot check fluid levels or add fluid easily.
As a first year c6 I believe I have the same xmission as a c5. If this is the case is it the same issue, ie take it to the shop.
All suggestions appreciated.
Also car is at 73xxx mi. can I just have the fluid service done and if the gasket is changed shouldn't that cure the leak.

Checking and adding is not difficult, but burdensome.
Car in air, engine running, up to temp., fill hose/pump, etc.
If you see the leak coming from the trans pan, then yes a new gasket can solve the issue.
Be sure to get the trans filter at the same time to ensure the pan is dropped.
Whether the pan is damaged or the leak is elsewhere, well you'll have to look.
FYI for 2005, 1 or 2 of the pan's bolts are difficult to access so the rear trans rubber mount must be loosened, etc.
