Recently bought my first Corvette. An 05. Only has 2700 miles on it. After about 300 miles of perfect operation it just shut off going down the road. Initial diagnostic is pointing towards the ECM. I'm having a hell of a time tracking someone down in the Saint Petersburg Florida area that can help me with this. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
What did your initial diagnostic consist of ???…it shutting down like that can be a bad crank sensor…do you look at codes that may have set ??…if you were closer I’d say bring it here…try Googling auto diagnostic shops in your area…dealerships and general repair shops are only good at replacing parts…a good diagnostic shop would be using a labscope hooked up to the car driving down the road and see what is dropping out when it shuts down…fuel, ignition, or something else.

The motor shut down and won't restart. It cranks strong. Motor just won't turn over. I had a local shop do the diagnostic. It threw every code in the book at them. They said it's throwing all those codes because the ECM is dead and not communicating.
Ok, so the engine is a crank no start or a “no crank” ??..you said the motor cranks strong but then you said it “won’t turn over”…cranks strong means the engine is rotating…that what turning over means…the corrrect verbiage here is very important !!…if you only have a no comm with the ECM you ALWAYS check the ECM power and grounds…a fast check to see if the ECM is “alive” is to check for a 5 volt reference somewhere on the car…remove the MAF sensor connector and with ignition in RUN see if you see 5 volts on the YELLOW wire…the ECM has a 5 volt generator within it so if 5 volts is seen it’s likely powered up but I check ALL powers and grounds before condemning it…make sure ETC Fuse 9 and 11 is good…also make sure that Ignition Relay 1 is good…check the relay…the ECM has 1 BATTERY feed and 2 Ignition 1 power feeds…1 ground G106.

If you did NOT have the ECM no comms I’d say look at the Tach while cranking it over…if NO movement that leads me to a bad crank sensor but as I mentioned check for the 5 volt reference on the MAF sensor…if no 5 volts ECM may be dead but check the powers and grounds and the relay…if the relay is bad you won’t have fuel and ignition !!

I read that tach tip somewhere here initially researching ideas. It did not budge while cranking. I am going to do an in depth diagnostic soon. I mainly wanna get the ball rolling on an ECM if that ends up being the cause of the issue because every where I've asked around so far says there's a wait list, and this is my only car at the moment. I'll be happy as hell if it's just a crank sensor but I wanna be prepared if I gotta track down a new ecm.
