Default Antigravity ATX30-RS overheating

Since installing this battery, on at least 3 occasions I've been unable to restart the car after driving for a while. If I wait for a a few hours the car starts fine. I'm guessing the battery is overheating in the engine bay. I'm sure the consistent ambient temps over 100 are not helping. I've bought a battery heat shield as well as some metal heat shield to try to exclude the battery from the rest of the engine bay but have yet to install it. I'm wondering if I should just relocate the battery and be done with it. Has anyone else had this issue and how have you dealt with it?

Yes, go back to a AGM battery, unless your going to relocate it to the cubby, as well as upgrade new wiring back to the front of car a well.

I just put a 40 in mine. I had heard of other issues with the 30 but I didn’t get an overheating description. Now I’m wondering if I made a poor choice.

So I went for a test this morning. 80+ outside, drove for 45 min at interstate speed and shut it off in my driveway. Let it sit for 20min and it was hot under hood. No issue. I’ll try again later today should be mid 90s.

I had a lithium battery in my car for a short period to save weight. The company I worked for before I retired made them. When I learned the down sides, such wrong charging algorithm built in the vehicle, issues with cell balance and risk of thermo runaway, i concluded that it would be easier for the driver to lose weight than take the risks.
