Acceleration oil pressure drop
2008/M6/no mods/49k miles
After a harmonic balancer install I noticed that if I started to accelerate from a steady speed my oil pressure would drop 2 psi (latest say from 42 to 40). It would recover and then start increasing proportionally to RPM.
if I let off the gas during acceleration and start to decelerate the oil pressure increases by about 3-4psi (say from 42 to 46 psi). The pressure does soon go back to the lower value based on RPM.
if I decelerate, get the upward spike in pressure then accelerate, the drop is around 5 psi (so 42 to 46 on deceleration then back down to 40 on acceleration).
this has been happening for a couple of years, when I went from an ATI to a Powerbond it seemed to go away then came back (wondering if I noticed this after an oil change and when it is due for one the oil pressure acts this way).
should note that in 1st gear from a stop oil pressure increases proportional to RPM.
Found some similar posts but no real answers. May bring into dealership for an oil change and to check it out.
thanks for any help or recommendations, sorry for long post.
