Default Installed throttle controller

So I installed a throttle controller and now after driving it for about 15 minutes, checking a few of the various modes, I feel like I smelt burning plastic. I installed a Soler. I checked Comfort 5, 9 then Sport 5 and 9. Weird thing is, I drove it last night (stock without controller plugged in) and had no issues. Any ideas?

Where is the smell coming from ? Outside of the controller itself, there is nothing that should be affected by the instillation of one.

I drove it again, and had the same smell. This time I didn't drive it hard or over 50mph. I popped the hood when I get home and it smelt like it was more on the driver side, underneath the hood. I looked underneath (without ramps) as much as I could to see if I picked up a plastic bag or something. I didn't see anything. The smell was intermittent. The odd part is I have never smelt this until I installed the controller. I am going to put it on "Original Equipment" next time and see what happens.

Drove it today, put it back on OEM mode. Never smelt anything. I am going out soon and will try it again with OEM mode. Tomorrow, I will try another mode that’s not OEM.

Thanks for the updates. I really can't think of anything under the hood that would be affected by the controller. All the controlled does is modify the signal from the PPS to the ECM. Maybe just a weird coincidence.

I usually don't believe in coincidence but your issue just may be one.
I have a Soler throttle controller on my parts shelf waiting to be installed. Looking forward to your next addition to this thread.

I emailed them (Soler) and they claim that they had never heard of it; offered a replacement. Today, I am going to drive it in Sport mode, I will report back. Oh and FYI, it’s a huge difference from OEM…it’s awesome.

So I just drove it on Sport 9 mode. Gave it some hard pulls down the interstate. Seems fine, it's crazy how responsive the throttle is now! I will drive it more later this week and post the results on the "smell". I am starting to wonder did I get something up underneath and maybe it burnt off? No idea.

All's well that ends well.
FWIW, when I had the Vitesse in my car I set it to SP5 or 6 (I forget which one) which was the closest to a 1:1 pedal/throttle relationship. With a manual a more sensitive throttle than that actually makes the car harder to drive. The Soler settings may be different, but just something to keep in mind.

I have a Soler throttle controller, and it works great! With other interests, I can't spend as I might just for my 07 Base. The Soler is a great, low cost "mod." With Exhaust, Bilsteins, Z51 bars, Vararam ... sounds and drives like a Corvette.
