So I've seen previous posts where key fobs were not recognized by the car to get it to start so you put it in the glove box slot and then it starts, so this is what happened to me today:
I come out try to unlock the car from sitting in the garage overnight and it won't let me in. It won't unlock the door, yet all the functions worked on the fob, lock, unlock, technically, but door still would not open,(even though the window indexed perfectly and made the actuator sound), alarm on off and the back hatch popped up but still wouldn't let me in the car. So after going through a couple cycles of all of these things just like that the car unlocks but then it says it doesn't recognize the fob. So I put it in the slot in the glove compartment and of course the car starts right up and everything works fine. I shut the car off lock the door unlock the door the door opens up fine everything works as if nothing ever happened. Why would this be a problem? There were no issues with the fobs. I had both factory models and they work great and the battery is fine . I even have a Billet racing alternator 170 amp that charges the car like a champ. Any thoughts on this anomoly?
If you read through the posts regarding your problem symptoms then you should have noticed that 95%+ of them suggest you start with the main auto battery. You have no information regarding the age/condition of your battery other than your 170A alternator charges it like a champ.
The battery can be failing regardless of charge state, so you might pull it and have a local full service auto parts location perform a load test on it. Definitely ruling out the battery should be your first step also checking battery connections at the terminals and starter solenoid.
Also, be sure your fob batteries are good and read at least 3v using a DVOM on them. New batteries should read 3.3v.

Battery is brand new from the dealer batteries in the key fobs are also brand new from the dealer only 2 months old
OK, good to know the auto battery & fob information and the battery hasn't been discharged or run down and unable to start the car previously? Does the car sit for an extended period of time between use? Was the car at the dealer for anything related to problems? What was the last thing done to the car before it started to act up? Might be something related and would help with diagnosis. Anything you can add may help to isolate the problem.
If nothing and this just started out of the blue, then you might perform a systems module(s) reset by pulling a battery cable, wait a few moments and then reconnecting ensuring a tight connection.
There are several electronically related issues that could cause your problem, but best to start with the simple items and work through them.
I have attached some documents related to fob issues that might give you a checklist for review.

Car was bought from the dealer not brought to it for any problems. New battery installed and key fob batteries were replaced at my request before the sale was final. The car does not sit more than 3 days without use and is stored in a garage, and I never had this issue before. Completely out of the blue. I even had an ECS supercharger kit installed with along with the Billet racing alternator and all systems were checked and ready to go and I've only put a thousand miles on the car since all of this stuff has been done. Also never a cranking issue upon start up, it either worked or it didn't, (once only) recognize the fob. The weird thing I thought was that all of the fob buttons worked and the car responded it just wouldn't unlock the car. I could hear the actuators trying to work and the window indexing like it does but that was it until I finally got it open after banging a bunch of buttons for a little while then it let me in, that's the part I thought was really weird.
Try the battery disconnect/reconnect to reset the modules. Also, you will need to reindex the windows after the reconnect. Procedure follows:

OK, so now i replaced the fob batteries today,(even tbough i really didnt think they needed to be but did it as a precaution)car recognizes fob and starts and runs properly but now the memory power seat controls no longer respond. The door memory presets 1 and 2 beep but do not move the seat automatically, or the side mirrors or the manual buttons to adjust the seat or the heated seat functions for both. Battery is fully charged and charging at 14.4. I have not disconnected the battery terminals for ecm reset yet as a last ditch effort. I have heard that there is a module up above the radio inside that could be bad, would this be true with these symptoms provided everything else in the car works properly? Note: Everything worked perfectly for a year before my first post on this string about it not recognizing the fobs. Guess I'll disconnect the battery tomorrow to see if that works...

Well, disconnected the battery for 30 mins and still same issue. Didn't reset anything. Drivers seat controls dont work along with drivers door presets. Makes a beeping noise but no function. Also drivers heated seat button dosent work but passenger one does. All other functions work perfectly. Oddly when the radio is on and the number 2 preset is pressed it turns the radio off and button 1 turns it back on. Whats up with that??? Would a slowly dying battery cause this? Ive put it on a corvette trickel charger over night and it shows full charge in the morning. Start car and controls still do not work. Everything else does. Put both fobs near the car one at a time still same result. Brand new batteries in each. Stumped....
As a point of clarification...you disconnected/reconnected the main battery, but you did not state if you re-indexed both windows following the reconnect? Be sure you are in the car with both doors closed when you reindex.
The module you mentioned above the radio is the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) it controls the use of the fob remotes and is mentioned in the documentation I attached. Did you follow the troubleshooting procedures?
I have experienced some inconsistencies with the personalization settings once the battery has been reconnected. They seem to always return once the car is run-cycled on/off a few times. Also, only the remotes that the car has programmed as 1 or 2 can perform the personalization function. Any remote programmed as 3 and greater can only perform the basic functions for the car.

all procedures have been followed as you requested but I will say this I haven't driven the car very much so I haven't cycled it very often yet only to the garage and back home and maybe once or twice in the garage idling the garage I took it to ran all codes or anything that they could possibly find and found nothing they said that this may be something that I have to take to the dealer to figure out which I do not really want to do if I don't have to
I went back to review your stated issues. Looks like the key fob functions are the source of your concerns. Let's get some questions answered:
1. Car bought from dealer. Did all key fob functions work (both fobs) at & post time of dealer delivery?
2. When did you have the SC added to the car? Did the key fobs work as they did in #1?
3. You had the dealer change the batteries. Did you check the voltage on each battery and they read at or above 3v each?
4. Did you clean the battery contacts inside the fobs and ensure that the batteries are installed correctly and make solid connection with the contacts on each fob?
5. After reindex of the windows, do both windows drop and rollup when the doors are opened & closed?
6. Does anything else on the car not work now that did when you first purchased the car?

1. Key fobs worked perfect the entire time I've owned the car.
2. Everything continued to work perfectly after the supercharger was added and tune was installed for a period of 3 months.
3. Not only did I have the batteries replaced at the dealer but only a week ago I had them replaced again by me to make sure they were in perfect working order and I checked everything inside of the fobs and they look literally like the day they were made. All other fob functions continue to work currently with no problems. Locks, alarms, rear hatch etc...
4. Windows work correctly.
5. Only thing that malfunctioned in the car currently are the things that I stated recently in the post. The only one thing that changed was the passenger side seat heater now works where it did not function a week ago. Driver heated seat still dosent turn on.
there is a recent post about key fob not working after steering wheel swap. it turns out to be a loose connection between battery positive to fuse box, which causes undervoltage in the system.

Thank you for the input but I still have the factory steering wheel intact
in his case, the swapping of the steering wheel has nothing to do with his issue. but during the swapping, when he removed the battery terminal, some other cables got loosen.

could the column lock issue prominent in this era of c6s be related?
