Not that we need another thread on harmonic balancers…but I searched and couldn’t find a recent one on the cost of a replacement at a shop….ballpark figure. Any foot the bill recently?

Wide cost range from $1500 to $2500 depending upon your locale & whether you provide the replacement balancer. Whatever you decide, be sure to use an aftermarket balancer (ATI, Power Bond, etc.), instead of a GM OEM balancer which is the same design as the ones that are failing.
Right! That’s what I was thinking when I bought mine. Does the market on these cars take that into account? Because it seems inevitable. I would like to take a poll on the fuel issue to see what % of owners have or are dealing with it. The harmonic balancer seems to hit everyone.
I can only speak for myself, but unless I was too old to do it myself, I'd never hand someone $1,500-$2,000 labor to change my balancer. It is a pretty straightforward job, and I've removed/replaced mine several times for cam changes. I always remove the rack, but some don't even do that. My opinion...

Well, some don't have any of those problems. I changed all of my haromic balancers during cam swaps on all three of my c6's. Also, haven't had any issues with the fuel system on any of the three. Not 200K miles cumulative, but damn close.
There is a highly experienced reputable Corvette specialist/speed shop 18 miles from my house. They do all my work. They did my ATI HB for $1060.00 grand total.

you'll never get an accurate poll because a high number of these cars aren't driven. Harmonic balancer is a known issue, but is also not a guaranteed failure. For a guaranteed failure you could turn your attention to the leather dash in high trim cars. Currently there are 2 leather dash options. Ones that have already failed and ones that are going to.

What's the name & address of that Corvette shop near lakeland.
Hi there,
My local Chevrolet dealer did mine for just short of $1500. They used another stock OE LS3 balancer which I'm sure will go bad in the future. My car is a 2010 GS 6A and the balancer trashed at 23,000 miles. Chevrolet dealers will NOT put on any part that isn't an OE part or I would have had them install an aftermarket upgrade.
Local guy charged me 8 hours labor to do mine. He didnt do the front seal and I ended up doing it again a couple months later. . Took me maybe 7 hours and it was my first time. I think I could do it in 5 hours. No removing the rack for me. Took the cradle loose and dropped it a couple inches. So easy a 70 year old could do it.
Thanks -- no HB problems yet but my C6 with just 11,000 miles has had almost every issue C6 convertibles can have due to GM using cheap substandard parts in their cars everywhere.
So disappointing

I just got mine done, it’s was 1600.00 with OEM assembly, OEM bolt, washer, new ac drive belt, main drive belt, new power steering fluid exchange kit, and computerized wheel alignment .

I am curious, why did you go with OEM? Given the problems it has. Did they pin it to the crank?
