I have a 2005 z51,manual trans. I have kooks long tube headers with green cats and borla s type exhaust. I was going to install a procharger in the spring, until I noticed my harmonic damper/balancer wobble. With that being said,I was thinking of installing a gm hot cam since the hb needs replacing. Is the gm hot cam a good upgrade? Looking for more hp without a rough idle that shakes the car. Also noticed the kit comes with new springs and valve guides. Should I replace anything else? Ie oil pump, timing chain etc. Looking for parts suggestions. Tia

The GM Hot Cam isn't a total disaster but can be improved upon. .525 lift is absurdly low for a performance cam. The only reason I'd even consider it is if I REALLY didn't want to change the valve springs.
I'd use this one instead. Titan 3 LS1 Camshaft (224/228-113+4) - Cam Motion. Should exhibit the same mannerisms and make more power. Especially on the top end. And it will work well if you do add a supercharger. If you're 100% sure a supercharger is in your future, I'd add a cam that's more designed for a supercharger. All cams can be supercharger cams. Some just work better than others when you add a blower.
Whether I'd change the oil pump or timing chain would depend on how many miles you have on your Vette. Power Bond makes a really good balancer at a good price point.
I am assuming the cam you recommended is for a ls1 engine?I have a ls2.
LS1 LS2 doesn't matter. Those cam specs will run smoother in a larger engine like an LS2. The vendor may be calling it an "LS1" cam, but you can still use it.
Good advice from these posts. My only additional advice is this: whenever you go with a performance cam, a good tuner is absolutely key!! A really good tuner can, within reason, make a wilder cam perform driveability on par with a milder cam. Cannot overemphasize how crucial a competent tuner will be.....

What he said!
I just installed the TSP Stage II came into my LS3... read any post on this cam in this forum and you will think this is a bad street camshaft and avoid it. HOWEVER, it seems as though I was lucky to have found a really good tuner who nailed this cam down in just a couple WOT runs on the street and I am hear to tell you this is a GREAT street cam (At least for a TR6060 car).
Take your time and find a tuner that several people would recommend.
I used CALVOTUNED who can be found on Instagram. He is located in the Miami area for anyone local who is looking. I cant stress how awesome of a tuner this guy is.
His is the cam "whisper'er" lol (they literally talk to one another)
Thank you for the info. As far as the tune goes. Yes I plan on getting it dyno-tuned
not all are created equal. Find a GOOD one. I’m flying a friend up from Houston to tune my z06. He thought tuning at a very well known shop and is about to start at another huge shop.
For context there is a popular tuner where I’m from in Kansas City. He’s garbage. But everyone goes to him because he marketed himself back in the day. Does like three dyno pulls and that’s it. No drive ability. I’ve heard of people going to him multiple times to get stuff fixed. He turned my gto back in the day before I knew better and it idle surged like crazy.

which tuner did you use in KC that you had a bad experience with? I’m in KC as well.
