So I recently got a c6 from a salvage yard that was completely gutted, they took everything from the engine to the rear cv axles. I was wondering if it is possible to run a standard engine/transmission setup on a solid rear axle to save some money or would it be better to just rebuild the transaxle and diff like oem

I guess the question I'd ask you first is are you building a racecar or a street car? If the first one, yeah its been done, but its pretty involved and takes some cutting and fabrication. Cleetus Mcfarland's Leroy Vette Cart went to this setup, several others have done it too. If your building a street car though... stick with the factory style setup.

It’s gonna be a street car, if I go factory trans and diff what engines will the torque tube fit besides ls3/ls7 (the car is an 09)

Yeah def stick with a torque tube transaxle setup if your going to build a street car. Live axle conversions are racecar stuff lol. Any LS/LQ variant will fit. Did they leave the computers and electronics? If so I would try to stick with a 58x variant just for simplicity sake (so gen 4 motors)
For simplicity sake Ill rebuild the factory drivetrain. However, I'm still on the fence about whether to put a 6l80 in it or do a manual conversion. Beyond the torque tube, trans/diff, and the cv axles what would i need to make a tr6060 swap happen in my automatic 09 base model vette?
