Hi guys, new to C6s. I have a 2005 base coupe, auto transmission. I have the engine out and front clip off for repair. I want to drop the torque tube to inspect and replace couplers and bearings. I have all bolts off at the trans(one bolt on the bottom is a couple threads in just in case) and torque converter and it acts like its still bolted together. What's the trick? How do I get it to separate from the trans?
All torque converter bolts are removed, all Bell housing bolts also removed. Assuming it must be stuck on the dowel pin? It doesn't act like it will separate. Car has only 39,000 miles...
Motor has to come out , or diff and trans with TT has to come out,so you have the room to pull is away from the pins front and back that its sister-ed between.
With motor still in, diff and trans still in, it will not come out.
Yeah, motor is out, all bolts removed. Must be the dowel pin corrosion I guess. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't forgetting anything, looks like I'm not. Thanks again 👍

I've removed numerous manual transmission torque tubes with the engine out but about the remove my first auto torque tube. How far did you have to drop the rear cradle (if any), for the rear of the torque tube to clear the TT tunnel? Did it just require backing out the cradle nuts or full unbolting of the rear upper control arms? Very limited information on this process with the engine removed vs going from the rear. Thank you.
Just incase any others were looking for the answer to my question regarding to how far the rear cradle/transmission has to be dropped for the torque tube to clear the torque converter and TT tunnel;
I had to drop the rear cradle about 4-6" and pivot the transmission down a bit to pull the torque tube forward and out.
This 2007 C6 has 167000 miles on what looks to be the original torque tube bearings. I believe the rear bearings locked up causing the engine to destroy the drive shaft couplers/torque tube assembly.
