Getting out of the car, I push the exit button with my thumb, hear the door unlatch, push the door to open and it only goes so far and gets hung up like when you don’t close the door all the way and you get a door ajar warning. But then I press it a second time, I hear it unlatch and it opens all the way. So I always have to push it twice. Getting into the car sometimes it’s fickle but has never not let me enter. I searched but didn’t find this exact issue. Thoughts?
Got problems with the actual latch actuator releases for the door.
Either way ,will need to remove them to solve the problem and just comes down to if you want the inexpensive fix with a little labor, or want the expensive fix with new releases. Hence button push does solve the problem, so motors are fine, and its just the plastic gears where the grease has dried, causing the problem.
As for the cheap fix, since the problem is the latch is just binding up, just need to pull the latches apart, to clean and re-grease them.
Ah. With the door open I pushed the latch in so I could watch it, the button makes it release with no problem. Snaps open quickly. I’ll try putting a bit of grease on the door pin first to see if that does the trick. If not looks like I’m ripping the darn thing apart.
Thanks!
I put a tad bit of white lithium grease on the posts and works perfectly now. With all the posts about doors not opening and it being caused by electronic or mechanical issues, I didn't think to try the obvious lubrication fix.
I found just putting a little pressure on the door Then pressing the button just pops it right open, maybe the passenger latch on mine was a little bad.?
