Default P0174 Error code after Corsa CAI install

Good day everyone. I installed a Corsa CAI on my 2013 GS. Sounds nice. I can feel to difference in my acceleration. Only problem is I got a check engine light. Took it to Pep Boys. The doo-hickie gave me a P0174 error code. Something about my intake manifold, system too lean and fuel trim system too lean. Dropped it off at the Chevy dealer. The mechanic stated: the car’s computer adjusts to minor air flow changes but the Corsa CAI is outside of the computer’s parameters. He said, the car is fine and it won’t hurt my engine. The light comes and goes. He also said the only way to get of the light is to get the car tuned. Is he correct or should I be concerned?

Thanks everyone,

BLZNC6

If it were just a P0174 (bank 2 lean) it would not be your CAI…if it were your CAI you’d have a P0171 also…u need to look at your fuel trims will a scan tool (doo-hickie) and see if BOTH fuel trims are elevated…find a diagnostic shop who knows what they are doing to diagnose this…dealerships are clueless !!…you may need a tune if BOTH fuel trims are elevated…plus or minus 10%.

Thank you for your quick reply. The other code is P0171. Lucky for me, a guy in my corvette club works for GM. He explained to me what the issue is. I’m taking the Vette to him Monday and he will re-program my computer and clear the check engine light…for free 😁.

Curious what your outcome was, I’m having the same issue. Installed a Corsa CAI and now have the same P0174 “bank 2 too lean” code.

Well after some research, I found a shop in Richmond, VA named FlimFlam Speed and Custom Tuning. He specializes in Beamers and Mustang but I was told he’s done countless Vettes and is very good. He was highly recommended and got great google reviews. The prices was awesome as well. Dropping it off this coming Thursday. I’ll keep you posted. Stay tuned 😎
