I purchased my '09 about 6 mos ago. The dealer provided a 2nd new fob. The original and the new replacement (seems to be oem/gm) both worked fine untill recently. Now, the additional fob does not work at all.
The only thing that I've done recently, was to disconnect the main car battery a couple of weeks ago, to try to reset a check engine light because of a bad gas cap.
I've changed the fob battery and tried the short reset procedure. When I put the fob in the glove box slot, the dash shows fob recognized. But, it doesn't work.
The original fob still has all functions working.
I'm thinking that since the original works fine, and the replacement worked fine for a while, the fob must be bad, not problems with the car.
So, any ideas?
Problem solved. It appears that the dealer installed the battery upside down, and it did work the 1 time I tried it at the dealership. 6 mos+ later, the battery was slightly discharged--2.9v vs 3.3 for the new one. I installed the new one just like the old one, and no go. Flipped it and it works well now.
Seems odd to me.
