A scan tool does NOT tell you what's wrong with the car !!...just go to Autozone and they will tell you the code if you can't read it...a lot of REP are throttle body related.

Ditto, if car is in limp mode, then any scanner should be able to pull the code, while if code is not active (light in dash not on and car not in limp mode) then need a scanner that can pull down to body level to get the code from the history list.

As for limp mode, 99% of the time, either one of the sensors in either the accelerator pedal, or throttle body not jiving against is other sensor. hence both have two sensor each that read backwards of each other in that module. All the sensors have swipers that read against Stat bars,
Think of something like these,

With most of the time, the stat pad just having some corrosion/build up to cause problems with it, or the swipers have gone weak and not applying enough pressure on the bars to make clean contact, to end up with the changing ohms between the two (one rising, the other one falling) at the correct readings before it stated to have problems.

So again, pull codes to see where they are pointing you, and which needs to be corrected. Both modules can be pulled apart to clean and tweak the sensor, but no Joy in regards to the detail of pulling them apart, and if you don't have the skills to do such, then may need to replace the module that is having problems.
As for after market sensor, pretty good luck on after market for the pedal module, but some of the after market TB sensors can be hit of miss.
Also to point out, on your car, the TB needs to have the silver vane, not the gold one. The difference between the two is how the vane opens, and although you can go into the ECM with HP tuner, to make changes to use gold in a silver car, your looking at at least $200 for a shop with HP tuner to make these changes (tuners time, and the cost of tokens for the tuner to use HP tuner on the car in the first place).

Mine was the C180 connector and the PCM connectors, throwing a TAC mismatch code. I cleaned them all with CRC and a wire brush, code went away. The C180 (and c184 drivetrain plug) are above the PCM in the fender liner area

Just proof if its an APP code doesn’t always mean it’s a bad sensor !!

I had the same problem and found the battery terminal was loose. Haven’t had issue since, but I got a new pedal!

If you read the code setting criteria this may be an ECM issue and not the throttle body.

As in step 5 below if a P0602 is not set check ECM powers and grounds…and FYI you don’t check ECM grounds with an ohm meter…I would recommend using an old headlight bulb that draws a few amps…I use an 5 amp high beam bulb.
