Hello everyone, was hoping someone could help me diagnose what this sound is, its coming from the engine bay it seems. People told me it was bad fuel so i switched to 93 octane from shell and no fix. I've attached a video showing the noise. It only happens on acceleration when the throttle is pushed more than a quarter of the way. The car is a 2007 corvette ls2 with around 84000 miles. Thank you everyone!
I can't identify/ hear a noise in your video.
But, if I was to guess; exhaust hitting "something".
My .02 would be to look for witness marks on the exhaust, inspect motor mounts, and ensure all the suspension components are torqued.
FWIW rattles can be difficult, sometimes one thinks the rattle is in the right front, but actually in the left rear.
Since the noise occurs when accelerating, I still look at the entire exhaust system and motor (+ transmission) mounts.
Good hunting
what octane where you running before if it was not already 93
Sounds like you might be talking about pre detonation if it sounds like a bunch of pinging
I had the same rattle on mild acceleration. I fixed mine last weekend. I changed all four sway bar end links and both motor mounts. I believe it was the motor mounts that were the cause of the sound. I would get a rattle sound at the front wheels when going over small washboard bumps in asphalt. The end links fixed that.
My original motor mounts didn't look that bad, but I am positive they were. What a pain in the **** to get the old ones out and new ones in. Anyway, I am happy that I don't have the annoying rattle any more. Also on hard acceleration, I had a vibration. That is gone to.
Just wanted to post this to maybe help the OP or someone with the same issues.
