Wipers not parking [resolved]
Out of nowhere, after a good car wash, my wipers would no longer "park" or work on intermittent/momentary/spray. It would work totally fine on low and high (continuous). I have a tech 2 so I scanned for codes, none came up however the wiper "park" signal was always on.
Symptom: Going to momentary or spray, it would go through its cycle of spray (i.e. timed 2-3 wipes), then park midway through the stroke. On intermittent, it would partially move, then pause.
cause: Motor pins were bad. I removed the motor and found the center pin had corroded and failed. Swapped in a new motor and all is well.
Tips: Remove both wipers, remove two torx screws - one on each fender. Remove weather stripping. Remove plastic cowl trim (dont miss the 4 clips holding the plastic trim). Remove center motor screw, lightly loosen 3 motor mount screws, tap motor shaft with a brass punch or something to loosen the arms. Remove motor mount screws once motor is kind of loose. Remove 3 screws mounting the arms (two driver side, one passenger side). Should be pretty self explanatory after that - just note, to align the motor: turn car on, go through one cycle (make sure motor continues to park correctly). Arm linkages, when parked, should be fully extended towards the passenger side (full extend = furthest down).
