Default Rev limit 5K during AutoX

Hey all. I participated in an AutoX event on Sunday and for run 6 of the 7 runs I did, the car suddenly limited itself to 5K RPM. It would hit 5K and hold there with my foot to the ground. Not bouncing like a rev limiter but nice and smooth up to 5K then just hold there. 11GS 6mt, competitive driving mode, oil temp was 217ish with coolant temp right around the same. Plenty of oil pressure. Straight section of track, little to no steering input, 2nd gear, foot to the floor. No lights, warnings or errors. It did not feel like TCS, I've felt TCS intervention countless times, this wasn't that. Just happened on the one run and did not reappear. Anyone seen this before?

Does the car have an aftermarket ignition box on it? That's what the MSD soft limiter feels like with the MSD 6AL-2 on my LT1 - it alternates spark to different cylinders to soften the limit, so it doesn't 'bounce' like a factory limiter. My auto trans '10GS will definitely hit the 6400 rpm limiter in auto-X.

Bone stock apart from a Vararam Snake Charmer.

I wonder if your clutch switch closed, confusing the ECM into activating launch control, or perhaps the neutral rev limiter.

Automatics have a 4K limit in park or neutral. I believe manuals can be set up similarly for when the clutch pedal is pressed, though I don't know what, if any, rpm is set from the factory.

That's an interesting thought! It did behave in exactly that manner and when I last used launch control, it did hold at the same exact RPM. I would think that it looks at vehicle speed as well but this seems to be the most relevant response so far!

Wheels and sensors are stock. No issues with them, they read correctly on the DIC.
