Hey guys been using the forum for a while but new to posting I hope this is the correct spot.
I have an 05 C6 base with the LS2 NA. I have been trying to track down a squeak in the engine bay for about a month now and I’m at a loss. I have replaced all the standard things Harmonic balancer, tensioners, water pump, belts and all other pulleys. Today I ran the car for a couple min with all the belts off and the noise is still there so I can say for sure it’s not a belt/pulley issue. The next thing I have found on forums and YouTube could be a possible leak in my header gasket. Has anyone else had an issue like this and possible fix. I’m not throwing any codes or engine lights.
the video I attached is cold start with the belts off the car for reference. This noise does maintain the same intervals and consistency with the engine cold or warm.
Exhaust leaks sound like a tick and not a squeaking noise if that is what is…hard to hear on your video…if you have a scan tool look at your fuel trims and see if one banks fuel trims may be elevated.
Thanks I’ll check that out also looking at the possibility of it being a lifter issue I found a video with the exact same noise but there was never an answer if it was solved I’m trying to contact the dude to see if it was a lifter
That could be a roller of one of your lifters failing. Since it is making the noise without the belt, that's about all I can think that would make that noise.

Does the noise change with RPM's?
Is the car stock? How many miles?
It does speed up and slow down to match the RPMs of the engine. It’s a higher mileage care 120,000. It’s got a mild cam and exhaust but nothing crazy
You will need to pull the heads to check the lifters. If it is indeed the problem and there is damage to the lifter roller, you will need to pull the cam and inspect it.
Sucks, I know but no way around this in my opinion.

The cam lobes I can see with the valley cover plate off look good. Still hoping for a lifter and that I caught it early enough to save work on the bottom end but won't know much more until I finish pulling the heads.
I suggest you stop driving yours now and pull the heads. It sucks but you don't want to make it worse. Every divot or gouge you see on a roller wheel or cam lobe is a bit of metal that went "somewhere" inside that engine. There are some great how-to threads on the forum here for removing the heads and intake manifold.
I won't hijack your thread anymore but will follow and try to help if I can. I'll probably start my own thread in a bit once I get some more info on what's going on.
So I got my engine all torn down for people that are having the same noise my issue was in fact a lifter. It looks that one had been replaced at some point and they did not change them all or even use the same type and brand and the odd ball lifter has scorning thankfully the cam was not damaged.
