Hello everyone, I pulled out of a parking lot this morning and the engine lost power, dash said engine power reduced and then shut off completely. After a few minutes I got it to start and had the CEL read and cleared. The codes were P2101 and P0606. I have ordered a Dorman throttle body and was looking for advice on the learning process needed after it is replaced. Also I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.
OK, first thing is trouble codes aren't part numbers...you also have to check wiring...BTW anything Dorman is junk so if you want to replace your TB with that brand go right ahead...the P2101 is a TAC motor issue so I'd check to make sure the TB blade can move freely when you push it open and it doesn't bind...you can also turn the ignition on and press the gas pedal and make sure the TB opens and closes...as far as the P0606 the ECM does an internal check to make sure the APP sensor wires aren't shorted together...it pulls the sensor voltage to ground on both APP 1 and 2 and expects to see both voltages go to ground...stick with OEM parts and don't buy off Amazon or Ebay...there is no "learning process" called out in the FSM for its replacement but if you have a factory level or aftermarket scan tool you can perform an idle learn procedure if you like.
Should you have the equipment and the knowledge to test the electrical portion of the circuit it is below…best to have a good scan tool and a DVOM that has a min-max function…if this is over your head find an auto electric shop in your area !!
I know trouble codes aren't part numbers so I'm not sure what you mean by that statement. As for the Dorman parts being junk, I was unaware and will purchase a different TB. That was the only one that wouldn't take a week and a half to get here. I will look into the other things you suggested. I just got the car Friday and it was not being maintained, the air box is broken and zip tied together. I have a Corsa CIA showing up tomorrow. I wasn't going to put one on but this one needed replaced. I am learning the car and finding out what needs to be fixed/replaced. They did a number on it, like putting oversized door speakers in and the windows wouldn't roll down past half way and putting wood screws into the bumper to hold the front license plate on. I'm looking for experience with this issue to see if replacing the TB is the normal fix for it.
I am having trouble finding an OE throttle body. Summit has it listed at 530 with no availability. The only one I've found in stock is the Standard Motor TechSmart throttle body and its $766... removing and cleaning it might be my only option until I can find one. I'll end up calling my local GM parts counter but they love money and have been untrustworthy.

I would check it electrically first but you can do as you like.
I have had a Dorman throttle body on my 2006 Z06 for two years now and it is working great. I especially like the hall effect system they use for non-contact detection of throttle position which will not degrade after years of use. Anyone want to buy an OEM silver blade throttle body? $220 with free shipping to lower 48.

1. Start and idle the engine for 3 min.
2. With a scan tool, monitor desired and actual RPM.
3. The ECM will start to learn the new idle cells and Desired RPM should start to decrease.
4. Ignition OFF for 60 seconds.
5. Start and idle the engine for 3 min.
6. After the 3 min run time the engine should be idling normal. If the engine idle speed has not been learned the vehicle will need to be driven at speeds above 70 km/h (44 mph) with several decelerations and extended idles.
7. After the drive cycle, the engine should be idling normally.
After performing the relearn procedure, engine performance will continue to improve during normal driving.
Thanks Brother !!…would rather have these guys not go to a dealership and get F’ed over !!
I don't even think my dealer has someone that actually knows corvettes, I would have to go to Reno or Salt Lake City for some "expert" GM work. I need to replace my upper and lower radiator mounts, and get the horns working again. The radiator appears to be in good shape still. I have some work to do on this car before shes happy again. I will be taking good car of it, this is my tinker toy that my wife wont mind me spending time and money on lol.
Any grease monkey can replace radiator mounts and may even be able to diagnose your horn…the horn is about the simplest circuit on any car…when I had the AC replaced at my house a few years ago one of the young HVAC techs was the Corvette “Specialist” at the GM dealership in town before he quit…I was asking him questions as if I didn’t know anything about Corvettes and he was CLUELESS !!

You don’t change a part just because the trouble code says “oxygen sensor” in it…like I said it can be wiring or even something not related to the O2 sensor !!
