Hi.
i just had my 07 Z51 ‘s harmonic balancer replaced with an ATI unit and noticed it has a very slight wobble with the car idling.
it is almost imperceptible but is there and it’s been there since the install.
I took it to the installer and had them look at it and the technician looked at it and rechecked the markings they painted on it and said it was ok and that it was normal due to the fact the damper is rebuildable.
Aside the tiny wobble , the car actually feels smoother at higher rpm than before.
But since the reason I had replaced the dampener was that I noticed the original one was wobbling and LS2 are known to have dampeners that fall apart, I’m still worried.
Every balancer I’ve ever seen had a very slight wobble, even when everything is dead on. If you think about it, your Ballinger is absorbing harmonics. It’s going to have a very slight slight movement no matter what you do as long as it’s not crazy erratic like the stock piece of junk that GM bolts to the front of the motor mine is it really bad, but If you think about it, your balancer is absorbing harmonics. What is the part number for the Powerbond race, SFI balancer for a 2008 ls3 with air conditioning AND WET SUMP OILING.
when I look up on the web PB117ss comes up but does not list it as for an LS 3 or corvette with air
it's a multi-piece unit that has to be assembled and torqued correctly. Yes they could have assembled in wrong, but seems unlikely unless it's the first one they have ever installed
