Default Rear speed sensor replacement

Hi guys, so I have a code c0050 right wheel sensor, so I've chef and cleaned all connections at the right wheel but still get the code. So I'm thinking of replacing the sensor, anyone have experience on doing this job, what's the procedure.
Thanks for all who respond.

Sensor is build into the wheel hub, but before you replace the rear wheel sensor, the problem may not be there.

Guessing that this is a wet sump motor car, with battery in the front of car, so start by disconnecting the battery, and removing it.
ON the fender wall, will be the C 180 and C186 connectors.
3and 4

Here is the 186 harness, and everything off that connector under the car on the back side, is on that harnesses that plugs into that connector.

So start with pulling/cleaning two connectors apart, break out some spray contact cleaners, and see if cleaning up the connector solves the problem.
Hint, if you look at the connector and litter with green fuze corrosion, pretty much onto the problem from the start. Hence battery vents onto the connector, and just the wrong place for the connectors to be in the first place.

If cleaning just the connectors did not solve the problem, then with the connector disconnected again, do a trace on the two wires from the front connector, to the speed sensor connector on the right rear side, and make sure that one of the two wires is not broken in the harness.

The lower down, the harnesses does a S bend down the firewall tunnel to match the contour of the bell house, then extra outer metal shield plastic part of harness is connector to TT to help it support it. The glitch is in the S bend that does move around, verses right at the hard extra shielding part of the harness that is held solid, that the wires can break in the harness.
Note, if wires are broken in harness at this point, no joy to repair, since X pipe and torque tube tunnel plate has to come off, to be able to get that point in the harnness.
Also, harness is specif to car and trans.feature type, so if you want to replace it,instead of just repairing it, make sure you have the correct part number in the first place.

So with cleaned main connectors, no broken wires in harness, and not a connector problem to rear sensor connector in hub weeded out, then the entire wheel hub needs to be replace, since speed sensor is in it and its not replaceable withing the hub.

If the sensor is bad the hub will have to be replaced…I’d check the sensor by disconnecting the sensor and measuring resistance across the 2 terminals should be 850-1350 ohms…also if you spin the hub you should see more than 100mv’s AC…not DC…if good you should concentrate on the wiring.

On a C6 I found the wiring harness to the right side rear wheel speed sensor hanging freely. It had come loose from the bracket holding it to the frame. Anyway, I think the unsecured harness swaying back and forth in the wind had broke one of the wires. It was an easy repair.
