Default Camming my LS2

So I'd like to cam my ls2 but keep the stock stall converter in it, and I was curious with ls3 heads if any cam for an ls2 would work for the most part or if I have to work with something else. Right now I'm looking at a thumpr comp cam from summit racing that's on sale right now. I'm pretty sure this cam should work and give me a nice powerband with a nice choppy idle sound but I guess im still new to this so I'm not 100% sure.

I would contact tick performance, or Pat G and have them spec you a cam for your set up.

There are a lot of cam manufacturers that can spec you a better cam for your setup.Overlap has more to do with how the converter acts than lift does.I would get several suggestions from them before buying a cam you aren't happy with.I have seen this happen before and it gets expensive real fast.

That cam is going to die in the upper RPM range. Something like this 25-TSP224228 TSP 224/228 .600"/.600" Camshaft would be well rounded and make good power from the bottom on up. Mean idle too.

Any cam that works in an LS2 will work fine in an LS3. There are some cams that are supposedly more optimized for cathedral port versus rectangular port heads. Probably won't make much of a difference but if you have the option, it's best to go with the most appropriate.

I recommend the Cam Motion Titan 1 or 2 cam for your car. They make a version depending if you have cathedral (LS1, LS2, LS6) port heads or rectangular (LS3) heads. Both can be used with a stock stall converter.
