Here's another basic question from a spoiled owner who's 30,000 mile '11 GS has NEVER had a code or malfunction (I've owned it since '13, second owner, bought with 6,000 miles). Lite came on (constant, not flashing) last week after a short cruise. Running perfect, normal top tier fuel fill-up the week before, battery replacement last month....all pretty typical stuff.
Is there a somewhat "common or typical" cause of this lite to show up? I have a hot rod shop buddy (with the OBD tool and knowledge) who's gonna check it out after the holidays but thought I'd get some info from our CF brain trust.

There really isn't, but a significant minority of check engine lights are EVAP codes caused by a loose gas cap. It's easy enough to check.

Thanks guys and Happy New Year,

You can't do anything without first reading the codes. If your buddy has an OBD reader, do that. Otherwise, any of the big box auto repair shops (Pep Boys, O'Reilly's, Advance Auto, etc) will read codes for no charge.
It's 2024, almost 2025. Get a cheap bluetooth OBDII dongle and use an app on your phone and get the codes. I use the app on my iPhone called OBD Fusion. I keep the OBDII dongle in my center console.
