I would have the shop/builder at least run a single larger gauge wire from the alternator side at least if you want it to look OEM since it runs behind the engine block with that wire loom.
If the engine is coming out that would be the easiest time to replace that particular cable because it runs to the starter which makes it annoying to deal with the engine assembled back in.
Is it necessary, no but it'll make the installation look cleaner and that'll be the time to do it.
Car is currently at the builder, I want them to install a MechMan 170 when they reassemble the engine.
Can this be installed without upgrading any charge cables or grounds?
I plan to change them out myself once the car is built, dyno’d and returned to me.
Not really necessary unless there is an issue with stock cable. Been running this alternator with stock cable and a ton of heat from turbos on my application for 10 years now without issue.

i also had my mechanic install this Hot Start Kit (Full Remote)---> C5/C6 Corvette Hot Start Kit — SMGspeed
The Under hood kit replaces the block ground, starter and alternator wires.
The Full kit includes all of the above- along with a full length lead for rear mounted batteries and/or z06/grand sports. As well as a battery ground
