Default Learning Mode not working.

Currently trying to reprogram my spare key because it doesn’t work with the car. I’m doing the trunk and glove box windows down etc. the thing is after trying multiple times or turning the key in the trunk area the leaning mode message doesn’t appear on the DIC, anything I could do to get it to work? Or am I cooked and I need to buy a new key fob to just add a whole new key. Which doesn’t make much sense …. Since it’s not even letting me go into the learning mode. Any help please!

Tech 2 makes short work of programing in new fob to an of the 4 slot postions, and is required if car is export, where the rear cylinder is not going to put RCDLR into Fob learn mode to start with.

I was able to get it into learning mode and tried to program my back up for now to lock and unlock my car. I did the 10 min intervals and after the whole process the key still didn’t work. I decided to call it a night since I’ve tried it twice now. I’m now stuck with the issue that even the glove box method isn’t even working. Feeling defeated. Any suggestions on what to do?

thank you

If you put the car in to long mode, did not get a fob programmed into the car, then now will have to use Ac Delco TDS SPS to put the RCDlR into relearn mode now.

As for Fob, and they way your were programing before, you place the fob into the slot, DIC will ask for new fob to be inserted, and if your only programming in either one fob, of going to program in the second, before you touch the starter button to pull the RCDLR out of fob relearn mode, you press the lock and unlock on the fob first if only one, second if programing in two, to end programming that way.

So looks like maybe put RCDLR into long mod to erase all the fobs, did not get a new fob programed into the RCDLR, pulled it out of relearn mode with the starter button, and now need to SPS flash the RCDLR to get it back into relearn mode.

okay! I’m currently trying to do the relearn process again with the one fob. So from my understanding of your message once I pull the first and only fob I press the lock and unlock button on them? Then I proceed to push the lower half of the start button ?

If just programming in one fob, then when dic stated to insert next fob. pull fob out of slot, then press the unlock and lock button to end RCDLR programing.
If programing in more than one fob, then again with watching the DIC to state to insert next fob, and on the last fob you program, then press it unlock and loci button at the same time, to end RCDLR fob programming.

At the point that you touch the starter button either during programming, or after the fobs has been programed in correctly as pointed out above, it just puts the car into sleep, to pull is any modules out of programing mode, programmed or not.

So again, watch the DIC that will ask you to insert fob in to slot for first one to be programed, will change to insert next fob, and once you have inserted what you can to program in regards to fobs, last one in slot, is the one that you want to press the lock and unlock button on that fob, to end RCDLR rob programming. After that, DIC will go to normal, and you can either shut the car off by pressing the top of starter button rocker, or can press the bottom starter button rocker to start the car.

If for some reason, you can not get the RCDLR back into relearn mode (all fobs been deleted from it), then will take TDS SPS to flash the RCDLR to put it lean mode, so the first time you press the bottom of the starter button, it goes into fob learn mode and DIC will ask you to insert fob into slot to start programing in the Fob(s).

I will record myself doing this tomorrow and hopefully be able to post it and I’ll do the steps you’re saying on here. If anything we can PM and I can share the video directly. Thank you for the advice Dano! If I could I’d shake your hand because I’m grateful to even get a response. So thank you again

If you can get to insert fob on DIC, but DIC will not go to insert next fob after the fob has been in the slot for a few seconds, then make sure that slot antenna is still in its keeper slot, not fallen out and somewhere in the in the dash below.

Again, the antenna needs to be clipped in next to slot in it holder

And not fallen out to be down in the dash below isntead.
Does not belong here, since although may work to start the car since kind of close enough for that, its not going to work to program in a fob since fob needs to be right next to it in the slot instead,

Short of that problem, then time to pull the center console so you can get to the RCDLR, to clean it connectors and header pins, as well as pull the board from the box, to check is solder joints at the head pins, if problem is not RF noise in the cabin from something after market blocking the fob signal in the first place.
Hence only one antenna needs to pick up the fob for it to work for unlocking doors and trunk, but two of the antennas have to pick up the fob to prove that its in the cabin, before the car will start (short of putting fob in slot, where just that antenna alone has to pick up antenna full signal to allow the car to start instead.
