Hello Fam,
I have an issue where I purchased a new battery from the dealer a couple of weeks ago and its still being drained somehow by my car. It starts up easily most times but after driving it drags.
Please advise\Thanks
If you have no electrical experience seek out an auto electric shop…you most likely have a parasitic drain…why are you buying your battery from a dealership ??

Well, I had purchased other batteries and thought maybe, that was the problem, so I went to the dealership. I know that got me..LO. Where do you normally purchase your batteries?

There is an Interstate Battery dealer near me where I can purchase my AC Delco Professional…when you install a battery you should check your charging system with a voltage drop check on the positive and negative sides of your charging system and also a parasitic drain test…that way you know your battery will last a long time…every time your battery discharges you shorten its service life…and also check that alternator…actually today I changed the battery on my 4 Runner with an Everstart from Walmart…that battery is always highly rated.
Your stated problem is a bit cryptic and an alternate interpretation could be as follows: You car starts easily most times when cold, but after the car is driven and warms up a hot start results in the starter straining to start the engine. If this is the case, your starter is being affected by the heat and is suffering from what is known as heat soak. This is not a problem with your battery rather you need to insulate your starter from excessive heat, especially if you have LT headers. There are heat shield or heat wrap solutions for the starter, but yours may also need to be replaced as it has been damaged from heat.

You likely have something in the car, not the battery that's the problem. Got a manual, are you putting it into reverse when shutting it off? Still have the On-Star fuse in the fuse-block? How about things like the lights on the mirror or glove box still on? You get the idea, there are many possibles here but you'll have to search them out.
These cars, or at least the C6Z are known to draw a lot of power from the battery even while off. That's why most people put their cars on a battery tender. Also I recommend an AGM battery.
Sounds like your issue is different though if it "drags" after driving, but you should get a tender anyway.
