I have a 07 auto. I started while driving sort of sounded like a bolt dropped lose going over a bump in the road and i did see it fly in my rear view mirror. being near a construction site it figured i ran it over and didn’t give it any thought. Days later i started having a very noticeable rattle coming from underneath the center console shifter area though it only happened when on the brakes in reverse or drive at a stop.it drove fine up top and doing pulls. it was off and on sometimes there’d be no rattle. i was thinking worse case it’s the torque tube starting to go bad but possibly something to do with an exhaust hanger with the bolt that was in fact something off my car because the same thing happened later again. a couple days ago on my way back home from the gym the car hesitated switching gears almost like a shuddering feel but it only happens the first time going throughout the gears after a minute or so of driving it doesn’t happen i can do pulls and nothing feels off. yesterday after dinner a friend of mine and i were taking a look at the car and to me the car idle sounded rougher than normal and off. it did all the things i’ve been describing and he confirmed that you can hear the rattling outside of the car. after this i decided i should stop driving and try to figure out what’s going on so today i wanted to hook up a cheap obd2 scanner i have and take a video of the vette reversing over my phone to pinpoint the sound better. the sound is coming around the x pipe area maybe a little bit right after it but even worse on the second attempt at this the car had a CEL on for p0700 immediately on start up. was driving it a bit and noticed the vss is at 0 the vehicle was moving though very slowly. i figured maybe a bad vss could cause the hesitation and trans code but the rattling im so sure of, as i put the car in park it now rattles in park not as distinctive as in reverse. really throwing my threw a loop of finding a explanation for this as i was hoping on making until winter to drop the trans and tt. I am considering taking it for a diagnostic on that p0700 code as it just a general tcm code. any help or suggestions is much appreciated

 

A cheap code reader will only read your P or Powertrain DTC…you will need a scan tool that can read all modules if you want to diagnose this.
