I want to replace the radio in my 2008 Corvette base. If I buy another one from the same year, will it fit (I understand that I need to add the VIN to the radio using Tech2), or is it not that simple?
Why swap with another GM radio when there so many on the market with camera's, bluetooth and apple play, all are plug and play without using tech II to make them work lot better then GM radio's, I don't recommend when your phone has Waze much better GPS always updated to the latest maps.
I know that replacing the radio with a GM one again might not make much sense (the current one broke), but I don’t necessarily want to do major modifications — other radios aren’t completely plug-and-play and require adapters.

Straight swap, remarry with Tech 2, but what is wrong with the radio in the car now, since may be an easy fix, and a lot cheaper that replacement unit.
A fault in the radio’s electronics — it only works when I warm it up or after driving the car for a while. I tested it when the radio was cold and it wouldn’t turn on — I heated it with a hair dryer and it started working A friend has a working original GM radio for $100, so I think that will be the cheapest repair option.
