after driving aa while (varies) the chime comes on and i get the massage "service charging system" and my horn stops working, however system working fine. next Ime I start car horn works fine until chime sounds again. any thoughts?
As you can see fuse 2 supplies not only the horn circuit (coil and load side feed) but the alternator “sense” circuit as well…the voltage regulator uses that B+ voltage for system voltage control…I’d check the fuse and also the connector at the alternator…that is the red/white wire for voltage…I don’t know how much electrical experience you have so I’ll stop here.
One of the 12v sense wires for the alternator is the horn fuse circuit, so problem with it, will cause problem with the charging system as well.
Could be just problems with the fuse, or it spaced to fuse block U connectors (corrosion), or could be problem in the wires or lower fuse block connections instead.
So since both are using Fuse 2, again, pull and check fuse and it lets legs, the U slots that the fuse plugs into in the fuse box, and then is nothing it still found, may be time to pull the upper fuse block from lower, to check the lower blocks and wiring next.
