Default Deck lid / hatch lock cylinder assembly

2013 Corvette (ZR1)

So, My battery is dead. Hatch lock is totally not working and I need to get into the car. Read procedures to access the positive cable to the starter which leads to the battery and charge it from that point. (really have to remove the starter to get to that cable) Another suggested removing the outer rear tail light and trickle charge from the connector to that light.

I have another way. First off I need to open the hatch to charge the battery. Second, my lock needs to be replaced. I removed the inner right tail light to access the lock (and cable leading to the hatch release). This allowed me to have access to the lock cylinder assembly and the manual cable that I need to pull to unlock the hatch. Now the hatch is open and let the charging begin !!!

So are you saying that with a dead battery, the key switch above the license plate does not work with a dead battery?

Actually, its a bad cylinder. The key would turn about 20 degrees and hang up.

You sure you turned the key enough? It's hard to turn it for sure, almost feels like you'll break key. IS NORMAL !

Yes... It started hang up a couple of years ago. Ignored it. I tried, no lie, 500 + times. Sprayed everything I had up in the cylinder and nothing. After I snaked it thru the tail light and removed the cable, I tried the key again and it was hitting something in the cylinder. And of course, the part is now discontinued.
