This started out when I came out to a dead battery. I hooked up the jump box and could hear a clicking like a relay in the car. I sat in the seat and could feel a click each time the "relay" cycled like the for/aft seat motor was stuck at the end of its travel and cycling off and on.
I disconnected the harness under the seat and the cycling stopped, as well as the battery drain.
So I am sure the seat has to come out, but the problem is that the seat is all the way back and I can't get to the rear seat mounting bolts. Thoughts or suggestions on what has failed and how I can get the seat out?
Also, the air bag light is on with the seat harness unplugged, for what that's worth.
Thanks in advance for any help. Don't want to go to the dealer.
Here is something that you could try, but I don't know if it will work. First, take out the front seat mounting nuts. Make sure the battery is fully charged, then push the seat fore/aft switch to the fore position while simultaneously using physical force to move the seat forward. If the seat does move, then stop when you think there is enough room to access the rear seat mounting nuts.
Just a thought...Double check that the seat controller mounted on the side of the seat isn't broken by sitting on the edge of the seat when entering/exiting the car. If broken, it could be stuck in a continuous function therefore draining the battery. The controller is the same on the driver and passenger side and is pretty easy to get to and remove/replace it. You could swap it with the other seat to help determine fault.
It is very annoying that when the seat is all the way back, you can't get to those nuts. If you heard the motors still running, I would try and access the connectors to the motor under the seat and then use a separate 12v source to jump the two pins going to the forward direction of the motor. That is what I did when my switch broke on my seat. There have been a few threads about this if you search.
OK, decided to fix it or break something. After getting the trim panel off I found the fore-aft/up-down switch had pulled apart. A bit of super glue and a bit of cussing at the trim panel and we are back in business.
Thanks for the responses.
