Previous owner installed a MGW shifter. I would like to reinstall the original. Please examine the attached pics and advise what parts need replacement. I can see that the rubber cover was cut but not sure why if not installed with the MGW.
My best advice is to look at any youtube video on installing any after aftermarket shifter. Then just do the procedure in reverse and identify what parts you'll need from the stock shifter. The C5/C6/C7 all use the same shifter box so there should be tons of videos to look at. What I was about to do is go look at youtube videos to help you, then realized why don't I just tell you to do the same. Also the tech tips forum area might have a how-to which I'm going to look for as well. Now I'm off to to just that.
Installing an MGW on a C6 corvette (I didn't view this before posting).

The original MGW shifter was available with or without the (gold-colored) lower box. You could buy the MGW shifter alone and re-use your factory lower. That suggests that the reverse could work, too: a factory shifter and an MGW lower. So if there's something you don't like about the MGW shifter, you could probably just replace it and keep the MGW lower. I don't know if the newer blue-colored MGW lowers are the same.
OP, just curious why the reversal? You want original look or you don’t like the shifter? Which version do you have, the flat stick or the original that accepts the OEM shift ****?
the only thing modified from the OE is the rubber boot which has to be cut to fit the upper MGW shift ****.
If you want, you can keep the MGW lower and buy an upper that lets you run the OE **** too... The MGW lower is pretty great, IMO. The flat stick will unbolt with 4 bolts, you attach an adapter that lets you bolt the stock back - or you can put an aftermarket C5-style threaded **** too.
I may want to use the MGW in a different car. I would be reinstalling the original in its entirety.
Does everything look normal in my pics except the rubber cover eg. Small rubber O ring? I bought the car like this so I never had the original in.

As long as the other car already has a lower box from which you can borrow the shift rod, which is missing from the lower in your pictures, on account of having been transferred to the MGW lower. MGW did not provide that part.
It looks like you may also be short four screws that attach the upper and lower halves. No big deal, except be aware that they are I believe 1/4-20, which you wouldn't expect on a metric car.
