Re: curb weight = 3179 link within (2000Firehawk)
Thanks for the heads-up!
Here's the direct link:
http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette/C6...ecs/index.html
This confirms that it's taller and narrower than the C5.

No third party has done a road test yet but the figures being bandied about are 180 top speed for the base coupe and a 0-60 sprint of 4.1 estimated by Motor Trend.

Even better than the number I had posted.
Looks like I'm vindicated...again.

Well 2% ain't much, but its better than nothing.
I was hoping the coupe would end up weighing the same as the C5 Z06 but at least its under 3200 lbs.
Should be interesting to see if the C6 Z06 can break 3000 lbs. Quite a few people were hoping for 2900 lbs but with the coupe weighing in heavier than many expected I don't think it will be possible.
Here's to hoping that GM proves me wrong.

So the difference between the Z06 and the C6 Z51 should be about 100 pounds?

OK...this is 3,179 number is GREAT news. As for the Z51, I am guessing 3,200. But with M12 clusters, it will run damn close to the Z. Awesome.

Betcha Hill will want to make certain that it's a 1SX optioned C6 with the Z51 that is tested against the Z06.

The weight quoted is probably for a 1SX package. And since the manual is standard, weight is saved there. Compare apples to apples with the base auto today, and the weight saving will be less impressive. Marketing is wonderful thing.
