Which suspension to choose?
My 2001 C5 has the standard suspension A4 and 3.15 rear
If I buy a C6 6 speed what can I expect from the different suspension options?
Base, Mag and Z51 . The car will not be a daily driver what do you think would
be the best choice..... ? Jim
What I would like to know is if somebody can get into the programming if you get the magnetic ride and change the "rates?" I am very disappointed with the "rates" GM used in the calibration on our Escalade, I wish it was 10% stiffer in control and don't see why somebody can't get in the control module and increase the "control" or magnetic field....I am hoping to see more on this before I have to select suspensions for our C6 Vert.
My C5 isn't a daily driver and neither will my C6 be. I like the Z-51. It's not harsh at all. W/ the C6, I really do like the things they've added to the Z-51 package. It's a no brainer for me, Z-51. Since yours won't be a daily driver, I recommend Z-51. Actually, Z-51 is just fine for a daily driver too.

A simple rule of thumb is that the better a car is set up for cornering, the worse it is for drag racing because in drag racing, you want maximum weight transfer to the rear wheels on the launch. So for drag racing, I think Z-51 would be worse. The "base" suspension would probably be best for that. You can also remove the front stabilizer bar but don't take any hard corners on the way to the track. Sometimes, instead of removing the stabilizer bar, you cam just remove the link bolts on the ends.
