Automatic WOT shifts at 6500:
1st-40
2nd-65
3rd-90
4th-115
5th-140
6th-200(theoretical at 6500)

6 speed AT? I thought the C6 was getting a 4-speed. Have the plans changed or is a 6 speed just expected some time in the Vettes future?

Thanks.

Forget the Torque converter, I want to see something like Audi's DSG or BMW's SMG!

i like TC's. they last forever, unlike clutches.
I'd like to see lockup by 25mph in 1st, however.

For drag racing you're right they really can't be beat, I just don't like how "mushy" they feel out of the gate, I mush preffer the cripness of a clutch, not to mention how firm each gear is grabbed during shifting.

FWIW Ford puts a SMG-kit on the T56 used in the Aston Martins and there is a rumor that they will be using a similar system on the T56 employed inthe Cobra.

Torque convertors are not wear items. If you've ever seen an automatic transmission dis-assembled, you will see they are made up of MANY clutch plates that eventually wear out. That's why ALL automatic transmissions eventually have to be rebuilt. Some do last well over 200K miles though. It just depends on how they are driven. I'm not dis-ing autos, it's just that a lot of people don't know how they work. They have wear components, just like brake linings and clutches.
