[QUOTE=Z06ufgrad2002]I agree that the car will need to be in R to shut the engine off. But, why would you have to keep in R once the engine is shut down? After the engine is off; just put it in N, set the parking brake and leave. Or am I missing something?QUOTE]
No, you're missing something. The car doesn't have to be shut down in R, but if it's a manual tranny, the C6 must be put in reverse gear eventually after shutdown to get out of ACC mode; otherwise there's battery drain and the car will beep at you and flash a message telling you to put it in reverse. You've GOT to leave it in reverse.
The particular starter I was reffering to requires you do a sequence of things when parking the car in order to enable the remote start. eg. car in N and handbrake up etc... The points raised about the key FOB are interesting and I forgot about that fact. MY GM car has passkey lock and I purchased a small module to replicate the passkey signal so it could start without a key, something like this would be required on the new Vette while keeping the security features still in tact. That is the only major problem I can see with putting a starter in the Vette. Also when you place an exhaust system in the Vette do you know how cool it will be to stand behind it and start the car?
