Thanks everyone for your help! There are probably many places you can buy the bypass. One is West Coast Corvettes in Placentia, CA. They have a web site. Price is less than $20 I believe.
save the $20 Go to Radio Shack and buy 2200 ohm 1/2 watt resistor -5 for $1.00 .-Plug one into cable end -stap cable end so it does not flap around--Put the other 4 resistor in inventory--you will never use them.
Radio Shack part# 271-1128

Thanks for the info.
Where exactly is this cable & what is the color-code?
Ok, I bought one and installed it, the packaging said '97-01. Possibly it was just sitting on the shelf for a few years, but it appears to be the same for all C5's. On many aftermarket suppliers' websites they advertise this part for '97-'04. Anyhow, it works perfectly. No trouble codes.

Does anyone know if the commercially available device for the C5 to override the forced shift from 1st to 4th will work with the C6? Thanks.
YUP. The CAGS override from the C5 fits perfectly. I drove home from the NCM and went straight to Coast Corvettes, put the puppy on the rack and installed the CAGS override. Took all of 5 minutes.

That part # at Radio Shack is 22000 ohm (22K ohm), is that right?
