last weekend (labor day) C-6 with what looked like E-T streets completely blew the rear end apart when the green light came on. Big chunks of metal on the strip at the starting line and it took 45 minutes to clean up all the oil and debris.
I just walked up from the staging lines when the flashing reds came on during the bracket races to see what the hold up was.
The pit talk said that it had exhaust/intake/chip mods to the tune of $5000 -$6000. I really don't know what's already availiable. It was it's fifth run down the track. Three in pre-race and this was second round of 1/4 brackets. I did not hear a time slip.
I go to the all corvette drags in Sacramento also and I can't remember a C-5 ever doing that and some of them were really modded cars running sub 11.00's

Well, the chip mods is pretty much BS as we know our forum vendors are on this and they can't modify the PCM as of yet.
This is a little interesting as owners of CTS-Vs are experiencing the same issue at the strip....Blown rear assemblies. Oh yeah, make sure you guys are covering those VINs at the track. GM is really making good on writing down the VINs at local events and dumping warranties.

Sure would prefer them to spend their time and effort rounding up a better rear-axle assembly and charge us a couple hundred more for the car... personally.
[QUOTE=gkull]The pit talk said that it had exhaust/intake/chip mods to the tune of $5000 -$6000. ..... exhaust and intake cost about $2000 and chip mods are not available yet for C6 (?????)
Why do you think that I called it pit talk When the green flag drops the BS stops. I think that the ZR-1's and the later Z-06's were wonderful stock motors also. But they don't hang against stroker or other than just N/A cars.

With OnStar, they wouldn't even have to go down there. Your car location, the rate it changes location (speed), is available at all times to GM.

PS Calif. Corvette and Classic Owners - please write Gov. Schwarzenegger to veto new smog bill for classic cars. See
What is the basis? If you actually floor it from a stop light you get voided? Or corner at .95 g? How can they void your warranty if you don't alter what they manufactured? Just driiving it shouldn't void the warranty.
GM is in business to make a profit. Racing has NO warranty. And usually you have NO insurance either.
The airbag has a "black box" that records your speed etc. before a crash. if you are injured and sue GM, they will replay the last 20 seconds of your driving, and if you were speeding the jury will decide who is at fault.
I am not asking the race track for a warranty or insurance. I sign the waiver like everyone else. BUT - I don't use the car for anything it wasn't built for and I don't modify it from stock. I have no intention of crashing it and if I should crach i have no intention of suing GM. All I want to know is why they would void a warranty if they see your car at a track? On what grounds? And why would it matter if I floored it in a controlled environment or a public roadway?
I've broken my car at the track before and the warranty wasn't voided. (hit reverse a little going 100+) I didn't march into the dealership and tell them my racing stories, just said my car was broke. Even if you need a tow, so what. If you modded the car, then the warranty may be voided. If you drop in a cam and heads, so you increase hp, they would probably not fix a broken rear end, but fair enough IMHOP.
