We installed our proto type clutch in the C6 this week. The factory clutch started to slip after 11.50. So far it feels great. No different drivability than the factory clutch. We have about 20 hard launches on the drag strip and no more smelly clutch. Now it is time to step it up.
Another shop posted the stock C6 clutch is pretty heavy. Is that true and is the set up are trying lighter? Will the C5 aftermarket clutches work?
Todd
The assembly is much heavier and they changed the pilot bearing.
Yes it is possible to use a C5 clutch but there may be problems with high RPM shift releasing because all the hydraulics has changed too.
We are at the beginning phase of testing. We already have 2 more changes to make. One is going to be a lighter assembly. Our main concern will be chatter. The lighter the assembly the more it is prone to chatter and factory clutch has some chatter already when it is new.
That is encouraging Can you elaborate? More fluid pumping through?
I didn't measure the fluid out put yet. The slave cylinder has a protective boot covering the shaft. This will keep the clutch dust and dirt from scratching the bore.
