Default pinging and knock sensor
i can't find the thread, but someone was complaining that he had pinging with 91 octane fuel.

i thought the knock sensors would retard the timing if detonation was occuring, so why is it pinging?

Well that didn't take long. My 99 C5 pinged from the day I got it, to the day I got rid of it. Three dealers could not fix it. We changed knock sensors. We changed fuel brands. Get used to it.
