Default 580bhp ls2

anyone see the december 2004 issue of road&track ?

on page 58 there is a write-up of the GTO. The state the '05 goat will the the 400-bhp ls2 corvette engine .. beneath the hood, the 6.0-liter v-8 has been tweaked to put out 580 bhp.

hhmm.. I wonder what the tweaks are ? Is this the setup that will go into the zo6 or will it have over 600 horses when using the ls7 ?

I saw that, but I doubt we will see anything like it. Even the 7.0L LS7 is only rated for 500hp supposably next year. I would like to see GM give us an optional engine in the Z51 package(even if it requires a manual only tranny) around 450hp or so

Default twin torbos +

This is what I have in mind for mods. I know it's similiar to the Lingunfelter setup but it's what I'd like to do myself.

Take the base c6 f55 then add an X pipe, dual turbos (or maybe a single large turbo in the X), and a supercharger on the top end.

How would this performe on the current ls2 ? I suspect I would need to drop the compression a tad but I'd like to set it up without dropping the compression for the hole shot and as the turbo kicks in let the computer compensate and drop the compression accordingly to let the supercharger deliver it's punch as I accelerate. I'd like to set it up so it's throttle controlled. As the accelerator is depressed, it controls the level of boost. I'd also like to find a way to open up the intake so it's a hidden cold air induction, stock appearance (create a sleeper) but kick *** performance.

Anyone know the piston to valve clearance ? Can I drop in longer push rods and a higher rocker ratio ?

I also have this recurring odd idea of being able to plumb an AC duct so it cools the air in the intake. Don't know how well it would work but just a crazy idea.

the HP is easy to get if you do not have to meet emissions and these one of a kind cars are not certified
