A friend of mine just installed a Random Technology full 3" stainless exhaust system for the C6. I saw a dyno test on it and the car picked up 18 hp at the wheels. I'm planning to install a system when I get my C6 (waiting for a convertible) and I was wondering what size the other systems out are and what kindo fo power they make.
do you think you could possibly post pics...? im in the market for an exhaust...i was thinking of BB Bullets but if your friends gettin 18 hp gain I mighty reconsider...
I didn't have a chance to take a photo of the system on the car, but I got the following link from Random that has a photo and a dyno chart. http://www.randomtechnology.com/C6.htm
I didnt know exhausts were different depending on transmission
I was just going by the text underneath the photo that states the application is for "6 speed cars only".
I have no idea what the difference is, I would imagine that by changing to resonators in-line as opposed to the standard muffler cans at the back means a clearance problem somewhere in transmission area.
I have no MN6 car to verify this by looking but I will glady meet any member who wants to compare up on a rack.

I wondered the same thing. Apparently, there's not a lot of clearance between the automatic trans and the chassis in the area that the pipes pass through. According to the guy I spoke to at RT, that's not a problem with 2-1/2" pipes, but is with 3". The biggest concern is that there are some plastic parts on the side of the trans and they don't take too well to heat. Their planning on doing a 2-1/2" system for the automatic cars.

"Pain and suffering are always inevitable for a large intelligence and a deep heart. The really great men must, I think, have great sadness on Earth." -- Feodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky (1821-81), Russian novelist, engineer, novelist
Feodor never had to settle for a 2-1/2" Diameter Exhaust.
Looks like "Drone" to me,haven't seen mufflers like that since the "glass packs" of the 60's.
I have Corsa Sports, Kooks 1 3/4" headers and 3" Cats. Its quieter when cruising at 70 than stock. But when you get on it you'll think your driving a Modena! Nice torque and hp gain S.O.T.P.Mean when you want it calm and subdued when you need it. Nice rumbble at idle and low RPM's.Corsa's rock!

I have the same setup as archtop and I would highly recommend it also.
RT cats have earned a bad reputation in the 350Z community. They tend toward early failure (ceramic substrate breaks up and blocks flow). The car then runs like it has a potato up the exhaust.
Carsound cats have a better reputation, as do, of course, the Magnaflows (the latter are CARB approved and street legal as OEM replacements too).
Shopdog, better check your facts. No aftermarket catalytic converters are CARB approved on any OBD2 vehicles. Also, the system as pictured does not include converters. On C6s, the converters are right off the exhaust manifolds. Completely different than C5 set-up.

"MagnaFlow's California 43000 Catalytic Converters are the first series of a new line of converters designed for use on vehicles equipped with Second Generation On-Board Diagnostic (OBDII) systems. They are designed, tested, and catalogued for specific vehicles. They are not traditional universal converters. These converters have higher efficiency than conventional strict California requirements for conversion efficiency and durability. These converters are warranted for 5 years or 50,000 miles on the converter body and 5 years on the performance of the internal catalyst, including replacement for OBDII diagnostic codes for low catalyst efficiency."
